Full Moon

100% illuminated

Liturgical Day

Weekday in Ordinary Time

Ordinary Time · Feria

Ordinary Time is not empty time. It is the long, ordered growth of the Christian life.

Faithful Explainer

Full Moon

What is happening?

The moon is opposite the sun from earth, so its visible face is fully illuminated through the night.

See it through faith

The full moon shines entirely with borrowed light. The Fathers often read the moon as an image of the Church, luminous only because she reflects Christ. It predicts nothing; it reflects.

Scripture

Psalm 8:3-4

A rhythm for today

Reset one room of your home tonight and pray for the people who live in it.

Sit With This

Psalm 104:19

He made the moon to mark the seasons; the sun knows its time for setting. You make darkness, and it is night, when all the animals of the forest come creeping out.
